Skills Development 5th November

In our first practical lesson we learnt about the importance of white balance and that the settings must be adjusted in each different location to match the change of lighting. We were also told about the importance of colour bars and that it is advisable to film at least 10 seconds of colour bars before each piece of filming otherwise the first 10 second will be lost

Media production Evaluation
Since I started my media course I have learned about target audiences in a lot more detail, before I only knew about psychographics and demographics etc but now i know much more about target audience segmentation systems such as the family life cycle and socioeconomics. I have also learned about magazines in more detail, I have learned the technical terms for the front cover such as masthead and puffs and straps, I also learned how to analyse a magazine cover in much more detail and about the different types of poses and colour schemes.
When I completed the initial assessment I realised that there are a lot of skills that I need to develop for example I would like to know how to use Photoshop more efficiently and how to use all the functions on a professional camera properly. There were things that I recognised such as print-based adverts, storyboards and analysis of CD/DVD covers etc.
I think the main weakness in my work is the photos in my photographic storyboard, I don’t think we used the camera to its full potential. I also think I need to learn more technical terms.
The target-audience for the Nana Hat was old ladies aged from about 70-90 however when we re-branded it, the target audience is now female and male aged from 10 to 90, so we have given it a much wider audience.  I think the elements of our advert that work in engaging our audiences attention is the part when the girl is getting rubbish thrown at her for wearing the nana hat, I think this because people will find it funny. If i could do my project again I would like to improve it by taking more time and care over the photos and planning as when we did it, everything was quite rushed. Our advert is tailored to meet the demands of target audience as it guarantees nice hair all the time, ‘whatever the weather’, and personal image is very important to our target audience.
